Our Story Since 1990
Astral Communications was founded by Steve Atherton in March 1990 and quickly built a strong reputation for engineering excellence—expanding to deliver specialist aerial, satellite, and commercial installations across the whole of the UK, including nationwide contracts for major high-street retailers.
In February 2022, Steve Atherton retired after serving as director for over 30 years. Ownership passed seamlessly to long-term, trusted team members David Newton and Philip Goben, alongside Office Manager and Director Satyne Jones Newton—bringing over 50 years of combined hands-on experience.
Today, from our base in Pontefract, we operate both Astral Communications (astralcom.co.uk) for domestic & communal TV/satellite systems and our dedicated sister division Astral CCTV (astralcctv.co.uk) for smart UNV CCTV and AJAX alarm systems across Wakefield, Leeds, Pontefract, Castleford, and Rothwell.

As Office Manager and Director, Satyne coordinates domestic appointments, commercial IRS maintenance schedules, and customer aftercare across both Astral Communications and Astral CCTV.

Philip oversees complex commercial and domestic installs, combining practical engineering know-how with clear communication to ensure every aerial, satellite, IRS, and CCTV setup is tidy and reliable from day one.
